Bangalow’s Heartbeat: Powered by volunteers!

Bangalow’s Heartbeat is a monthly community-run newsletter (always on the look-out for volunteers and contributors). We document social, cultural, commercial, sporting and environmental activities in the area, and report on community events and news from Bangalow organisations.

One of our objectives is to recognise the heritage of early Bangalow settlers and the impact their efforts make on us today. We’re also aware of our responsibilities to future generations.

The publisher is Bangalow’s Heartbeat Inc, a not-for-profit group incorporated in 1998. Membership is open to adult residents of the 2479 postal district. Primarily a volunteer organisation, this allows the high non-commercial ratio of content-to-advertising to be maintained. We carefully preserve a 40-60% advertising to editorial split, maximising the impact of advertising.

Heartbeat is distributed free through the regular postal service to mail boxes of around 2,000 families and businesses in the 2479 postal district.

This extends beyond the village to Binna Burra, Coopers Shoot, Coorabell, Fernleigh, Knockrow, Nashua, Newrybar and Possum Creek. Extra copies are available at the Post Office and other village businesses, and in Clunes, Newrybar, Tintenbar, Federal, etc. Each month we print 2,300 copies and estimate it’s read by 4,500 people.
