One Clubman racer took home the maximum number of trophies possible for an individual this past year at the Qld Enduro presentation event that was held on 27 November. Thomas Jenner, 18, stood out from the crowd in the Clubman under 200cc 2-stroke and 250cc 4-stroke Class in this year’s Enduro Championships and series.
Jenner can now call himself the Clubman under 200cc 2-stroke and 250cc 4-stroke champ and class winner in the South East Queensland Enduro Series, Enduro-Cross Series, Yamaha Sprint Cross-Country Series as well as Pony Express Series with partner David Stacey.
“I’m really happy with how my season progressed. It’s been a really good year,” said Jenner, who has been racing for three years. “To win everything in my class in Queensland and also to finish about seventh in Clubman E1 in the Australian Off-Road Championship was awesome. I especially loved racing in Queensland this year. A few motocross guys came out and mixed it up which was good to see. And I really like the South East Queensland two day at Cherribah.”
The Jenner family are long-time locals, with both parents, Ian and Donna, growing up in Bangalow. Thomas and sister Linka grew up in here and attended BPS before going to Byron High School. Linka did her hairdressing apprenticeship in Bangalow before moving to Brisbane. Thomas works for a local builder and lives with his parents at Newrybar. On his father’s side, his grandparents, Bill and Freda, once owned the Mobil service station in Granuaille Road and Bill can be found busking at Bangalow’s monthly markets. Linda Jenner
His mother, Donna was even born at the Bangalow Hospital back when it was still there and his grandmother, Glenys Croswell was the cleaner at Bangalow Primary School for 33 years.
Thomas and his father, Ian, are riding in some of the major events for 2010, including the Queensland Enduro and Australian Off-Road Championships, as well as the Australian 4-day Enduro in April at Portland in New South Wales.
