Editorial
Well, halfway through the year – and it certainly has been a very strange month. At least from my point of view. Not quite sure of my facts, but it seems as if the planets are out of alignment or the earth has fallen off its axis. I realise it must be just a perception but most peculiar happenings abound – just ask Keven and Julia!
Hopefully we are now back on track. It has been incredibly busy at the Heartbeat offices. First off, there has been great excitement with the group of new volunteers who responded to last month’s request for help. A diverse number of thoughtful and clever people have offered their assistance. By next month you will be noticing lots of new names sharing their skills. It could mean (I hope) that not so many mistakes occur – or submitted articles get left out.
And then there has been the Golden Keyboard Awards to encourage young writers, and the Golden Shutter Award for photography. The results of this competition are on pages 8 and 9. Thank you so much to all who entered. I hope it doesn’t sound facile but there is an amazing amount of talent in this town – young and not-so-young. It is so good to be able to help celebrate those qualities with the community. Stephanie King
