The students and teachers at BPS recognised World Environment Day this year with a plethora of environmentally-based educational activities, ranging from water quality analyses and bug-counting at Byron Creek to a very popular ‘Favourite Animal’ costume parade.
The school’s Student Council chose the “Creature Feature” theme, and on the day raised $160 to donate to WIRES, their chosen animal charity.
Rous Water’s Information Trailer and the Green House Trailer visited, giving Years 5 and 6 students informative instruction on our water supplies, and reducing carbon footprints. “Creature Feature” day concluded with a giant assembly where students showcased their environmentally-themed projects and other items produced through the day.
Regional Cross-Country Championships
Bangalow’s Cross-Country champions, Marlie and Brianna Campton, have continued their winning ways, by taking out their respective events at the championships at Nana Glen. They will now compete in the State Cross-Country finals in Sydney on Friday 23 July, and we wish them every success.
Fellow BPS students, Sam Jiminez-Swain and Ambrosia Wilmans also represented our District.
Other Sport: Our school’s representative teams in soccer, AFL and netball have all acquitted themselves well in inter-school competitions this month, as have those involved in the more cerebral sports of the Premier’s Debating Challenge and Public Speaking. Ross Krippner
