After a successful 2009 season, Bangalow Rugby is regrouping to defend their premiership title in the 2010 Far North Coast Village Competition. The team is heading down to Evans Head on Saturday, 13 March to take part in the inaugural Village 10’s. On March 19, 20 Bangalow tourists head for Adelaide to play a few friendly games before hitting the much-hyped International Seven’s Tournament. As always, pre-season training will start at the beach – this year the venue is Clarke’s Beach.
Bangalow may be a small town, but it has a proud Rugby tradition. The original Bangalow Royals played rugby union here before the First World War. The senior club was reformed in 2003 and has had outstanding recent success, winning the Far North Coast Village Competition for the last five years in a row. After their inaugural year in 2007, Bangalow Junior rugby has achieved tremendous growth and now fields a full complement of age groups. For more information: 0415 773 064 or www.bangalowrugby.com
